Facebook Instant Articles: What You Need To Know

Bloggers rejoice! Facebook Instant Articles has been rolled out a few months ago and I’m seeing it more often now in my Facebook News Feed.

What are Facebook Instant Articles?

The biggest advantage of course is speed. When you see an article in your news feed that you want to read, you’re no longer taken a new page which may or may not be formatted properly for mobile use.

What Facebook is essentially doing here is pulling content using your RSS Feed, then formatting it for you. There is some control you have over the formatting, but not too much in order to maintain a consistent look and feel. Gone are your sidebars, if you use them, and if you have too much advertising in your posts, you likely won’t pass the review. Yes, Facebook will review your content prior to allowing you to go public.

Keep in mind that this is not a simple matter of installing something on your site, and “BANG” your up and running. There is some process in involved.

How to setup Facebook Instant Articles:

While it may not be the simplest of processes to get started, It’s really not that difficult. You’ll need to have a minimum of 10 articles published on your website to get started, and it will take 2 – 3 days for Facebook to review those articles before they go live.
